Email: jyoti17iivr@gmail.com
Mobile No.: 82195 75859
Education: Ph.D. (Vegetable Science)
Professional experience: Over 12 years of research experience in legume breeding — development of pea varieties (CVRC notified), registration of unique germplasm (peas, lentil), development/identification of institute-level varieties (peas, amaranthus, water chestnut, winged bean, lotus). Managed and screened large germplasm collections (800+ pea accessions screened; maintaining ~650 pea germplasm and ~120 vegetable soybean accessions).
Research interests:
- Legume Breeding & Genetics: Improvement of vegetable peas, soybean and other legumes using conventional and molecular breeding (MAS, gene mapping) for multi-flowering and stress tolerance.
- Germplasm Management: Collection, evaluation, characterization and maintenance of pea & soybean genetic resources.
- Abiotic & Biotic Stress Tolerance: Breeding for heat tolerance (30–32°C) and disease resistance; screening using physiological and molecular tools.
- Nutritional & Quality Enhancement: Evaluation for nutritional composition and traits for processing/export.
- Underutilized Crops: Improvement and promotion of amaranthus, water chestnut, winged bean and lotus.
