Transfer of Technology
ICAR-IIVR has demonstrated exemplary commitment to technology transfer through multi-pronged outreach initiatives targeting marginalized farming communities and diverse stakeholders across the country. Under the Tribal Sub-Plan programme, frontline demonstrations of improved vegetable varieties were conducted across extensive areas in Sonbhadra district, benefiting over fourteen hundred tribal farmers with technologies like Kashi Uday and Kashi Shakti pea varieties, while kitchen garden seed packets were distributed to tribal women for nutritional security. The Scheduled Castes Sub-Plan reached nearly nine hundred beneficiaries in Mirzapur with seeds, planting materials, and vegetable seedlings alongside capacity building programmes. The NEH Component extended IIVR's reach to northeastern states including Tripura, Meghalaya, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh through training programmes, demonstrations, and input distribution benefiting over two thousand farmers. A three-day Regional Agricultural Fair attracted thousands of farmers from seven states, providing direct scientist-farmer interactions across technical sessions on horticulture, organic farming, food processing, and entrepreneurship development. Technology licensing agreements with state agricultural universities and private seed companies facilitated commercial deployment of IIVR varieties including Kashi Manohar brinjal, Kashi Shrishti okra, Kashi Bahar bottle gourd, and Kashi Baramasi palak. Specialized training programmes addressed hybrid seed production, export marketing, beekeeping, and tomato processing for entrepreneurship development. The national release of climate-resilient varieties Kashi Tapas tomato and Kashi Manu water spinach by the Hon'ble Agriculture Minister, and Kashi Shubhra bottle gourd and Kashi Bauni Sem by the Hon'ble Prime Minister, exemplifies the institute's contribution to farmers' welfare and national food security through impactful technology transfer.
